Character's name: Aiden Moonlighter
Character's age: 24
Character's attitude: Aiden is usually a pretty easy-going kind of person. While he is technically a Jedi, he prefers to ignore the limits that the name puts on him. Some call him a rebel, since he prefers to embrace his emotions while still sticking to the "moral code" of the Jedi. Sometimes it is difficult, but he always tries to put the will of the Council above his own. He cannot tolerate those who would harm the innocent or enslave the weak. He likes jokes, even when the mood is serious. This has earned him the scorn of many Jedis.
Character's Race: Human.
Character's appearance: Aiden Moonlighter scoffs at the Jedi brown-robe attire, preferring to wear comfortable clothes that allow him to blend in with the rest of society. He wears black pants, a white long-sleeved shirt, and a utility harness to hold all his gadgets (his lightsaber is still buckled on his hip). He has long black hair (wavy) and green eyes, with a little bit of scruff on his chin and cheeks (he's been working on it for several years now). His left ear sports several earrings, including gold, silver, and red rings.
Character's allegiance: Republic (though somewhat Neutral. For those who play D&D, he's kind of lawful neutral). Moon.
Weapons: Aiden wears a blaster pistol clipped to his right hip, with his blue lightsaber attached to his left.
Other Info: Aiden keeps a small necklace around his neck. No one knows what it is, but he's never seen without it.
History: Aiden grew up on Dantoine. He was born and about four years later, the Jedi came calling for him. Since he was so close to a Jedi enclave, his family had little choice. For Aiden, it didn't much matter to him; he was only four. The shiny lightsabers and roaring spaceships that moved in and out of the enclave fascinated him. Until one blew up directly above his dormitory when he was thirteen. Like any normal, sane person, he ran to the wreckage (that hadn't fallen on top of the building) to see if he could help. He was, after all, a Padawan in the Jedi Order. His skills weren't legendary, but they were better than the average. In his "class" of pupils, he was in the top percentile for skill, but the bottom percentile for attitude. So spent his years at the enclave studying and growing in his control over the Force. It was a rather quiet life, almost idyllic. He never did see his family again, though, and his name was changed when he was brought to the enclave, so he has no way to rebuild his past (all four years of it). But it was the summer of his seventeenth birthday that changed his life. The enclave was visited by a young, but powerful Jedi named Miranda. She was traveling galaxy, she said, looking to recruit any young Jedi who would join her in establishing a new Jedi Academy on a distant planet. Aiden was smitten. Though it meant that he had to travel on a spaceship (which he had grown to fear because of the explosion), Aiden pushed down his fear so that he could sit beside her. Over time, he learned that he could never have her. So, he settled for trying anyways and becoming good friends. They traveled together for several years, roaming the galaxy and recruiting young Jedi. He grew stronger in the Force under her guidance and soon became her right-hand man. Then one day, the day before his twenty-second birthday, they were attacked, seemingly unprovoked, by a host of locals led by a Jedi wielding a red lightsaber and exuding a dark and cold presence. Miranda was killed fighting the dark Jedi (who was killed by her lightsaber separating his head from his body). Aiden held her in his arms as she looked up at him, smiling as her last breath flittered out of her body. Wrapped in anguish, Aiden took her necklace and burned her body (as per custom). He wanders to this day, his sorrow a constant presence in the back of his mind. He pushes it down, trying to ignore it, overcoming the tears with jokes, adventure, and practice.
Role Play Sample: Aiden grumbled as they landed. He told her it was a bad idea. The people here had been hurt by the Sith during the Galactic Empire, and such hatred often spilled over to other people.
"They don't know the difference," he complained, refusing to unbuckle from his seat. "Even if the Sith are gone, they don't care. The Sith used the Force. The Jedi use the Force. To them, there's no difference, Miranda."
Miranda chuckled and leaned back in the pilot's chair. "Moonlighter, it doesn't matter. There's at least one person here that's strong in the Force; I can feel him! We need to train those can defend this galaxy from any threat."
Aiden shook his head. "Fine," he said, but raised a finger in warning. "But I've got a really bad feeling about this."
Rolling her eyes, Miranda stood and walked out of the ship. It was a small vessel, designed for short-range transport. It could get them to any major port nearby if they needed it. Outside, it was bright and the sky was clear of any clouds. Aiden joined Miranda at the bottom of the ramp, his arms crossed over his chest. As always, he had a blaster pistol clipped to the right side of his hips, with his lightsaber clipped to his left. He wore comfortable black pants and a white long-sleeved shirt. A utility harness was strapped to his chest and back, holding various gadgets.
"See?" she said, gesturing with her arm to take in the hundreds of locals surrounding the ship. "They're welcoming us."
"NOW!" someone yelled.
Aiden felt it then, a dark presence sending waves of cold all over him. "Miranda, get back on the ship!" he yelled, pulling his blaster into his left hand and his lightsaber into his right. But Miranda wasn't moving. She watched as a tall woman, wrapped in a black cloak despite the warmth, walked forward. The coldness was centered on her.
"Welcome," the woman said with a purr, her voice sultry and inviting. Aiden wondered what face belonged to that voice. "Please, come forward and let us kill you."
Miranda drew her green lightsaber and let out a concentrated wave of the Force directed at the stranger. But the woman simply laughed and waved her hand, sending the projected Force out into the crowd.
"Come, now. You can do better."
Aiden took a step forward, but a wave of invisible power lashed him to the side of the ship. He watched, helpless, as Miranda waded into the crowd towards the woman. Within moments, the stranger's head was flying through the air and the invisible restraints holding Aiden vanished. Running forward, he reached Miranda just as she fell. Catching her, he held her in his arms.
"What is it?" he asked, looking her over for injuries. The clothing around her right side was singed, but there was no blood. Of course there was no blood. There's never blood with a lightsaber.
"Thank you," Miranda whispered, reaching up and stroking Aiden's cheek. "For learning from me. Don't waste it."
Smiling, Miranda closed her eyes. Aiden held her, wailing in anguish and pain as her lifeless body grew cold in his arms. The locals quickly left, some wandering aimlessly, wondering why there were there. Before he burned her body, Aiden took Miranda's necklace, a silver chain with a silver eagle on it, and put it around his neck. He would never take it off again.
