Jeraldi sighed. "He must have embedded something in your memory using the force a long time ago while you were sleeping. It must have been buried deep in your subconscious looking for a way out. Meditating has a way of pulling things long forgotten or never consciously known into consciousness. Now it is our job to understand the meaning of what he sent you, and why."

"An obvious reason would be to destroy whatever image I had of him as a loving and kind man," Darius said with a sigh, sitting back down. "A less-obvious reason could be he wanted to warn me. He did say that my mother pulled him away from the Sith. Perhaps he wanted me to see what he had been like, the evils of the Dark Side." Darius sighed again and shook his head, resting his chin on the palms of his hands. "I don't know."

Jeraldi nodded his head, deciding to tell Darius part of his story. "I once was of the dark side, I was very strong in it matter of fact. I killed many people and am not proud of waft I did, but I saw the error of my ways thanks to one person, firestar, and I have been trying to make amends every day of my life. My family was taken from me by the dark council when I was younger, and I swore to avenge them. Revenge is a dangerous tool and will eat at you always of you let it. You're father was showing you that people can change, and that he became a good man for your mothers and your sake. The dark Jedi seek destruction and power and will stop at nothing to achieve it..."

Darius stood up, straightening his clothes and looking around. "Whatever the reason, I can't let it alter who I am," he said, slowly looking up at the treetops. "Those holocrons my father brought back to me weren't always . . . let's just say, Light-Side-Approved. Many of the techniques I learned were of a shadowy nature." Darius turned to Jeraldi, frowning slightly. "Using powers attributed to the Dark Side, like the typical lightning, don't make you a Sith, do they?"

Jeraldi smiled. "Of course not Darius. It's not the Powers of the yielder that are dark, it's the person him or herself. If you are good, then you can control your powers for good. Take me for example, I have the use of the dark powers, but I was able to turn myself and use them for the greater good."

"I guess that's comforting," Darius said. "But power can destroy even the most righteous." He turned and began to walk around the area immediately surrounding the ship.

"And pacing wears ruts in this wonderful planet that we inhabit at the moment, and it never really solves anything." Zane said, coming out of the ship, smiling at his humor. "Light or Dark, it matters no at this point. We all have a role to play, and we must play in shades of Grey."

Jeraldi nodded at Zane's comment. "He's right, no matter how dark one is, Matthias is darker and more powerful. We must harness our true selves if we are to have any chance of beating him."

Darius stopped, hunching his shoulders and lowering his head. He stuffed his hands in his pockets and let out a sigh. No point in hiding, he thought. I might as well just face this, whatever it is. "Alright," he said, turning to face them. "What's the next step then? Just walk right up and say, 'hey, how you doing? Haven't seen you in a long time! How's the family?'?"

"Although I'm sure that he would love to see me, no, that's not the best way. I know where he's at, and I know where you need to go, now you need to make a decision on where to go." Zane said to Darius.

"Not today," Darius said after a moment's thought. "We're too worn out and freaked out. At least, I am. Not sure I could face something like that and keep it together without going psycho." Darius leaned against a tree and looked over at the other two. "First light tomorrow, I say we head over and introduce ourselves."

Zane nodded his head, "Well I guess that means we're after Matthias."

Jeraldi agreed that they needed to be at their best, and so he headed back to the ship for a little meditation and rest. "Maybe, just maybe we can reason with Matthias." Jeraldi though to himself trying to figure out what it was last time made Matthias spare his life.

Darius sat for a moment outside the ship, thinking about the day to come, to the confrontation with this Matthias. Darius didn't know who he was, and yet the other two seemed to know him personally, though they weren't friends. Sighing, he shook his head and stood. No use in dwelling on questions he couldn't answer. He headed into the ship for some sleep before their task tomorrow. He needed to be restful and ready to face whatever happened.
______________
Matthias growled under his breath. They were taking too long and it was aggravating. He couldn't understand why the Brotherhood had been so insistent upon collecting whatever relic or artifact was on this miserable little moon. Why couldn't he just go and kill everyone? Yes. Kill everyone, simplify the whole thing. "Lord Blackmore," some low-life wheezed nearby. The wretched little man had probably spent most of the day underground, breathing dust-filled air and scratching away at the rocks with his dirty little fingernails. "Yes, what it is?" Matthias said, pointedly not looking at the man. "I haven't got eternity." "Sorry, my lord," the dirty little man said. "We've finally reached the the last chamber, but it is blocked by something. It's not a door, but it's not a wall or barrier either. We're not sure what it is." "That's because you're all a bunch of ignorant whelps," Matthias grumbled, finally turning to look at the little man. He was indeed short, just as Matthias had guessed, but he was fat and rotund, like a large ball of dung with two legs and arms. He was also covered in dirt and, as Matthias had known, his fingernails were covered in slimy dirt. "I'll see to it momentarily," Matthias told him, waving his hand in dismissal. The fat man nodded and rolled away, his stubby little legs barely able to carry him. "Finally, I've found it. After weeks are hard work, of sweaty labor, I've finally found it. After tomorrow, the Brotherhood cannot dictate my movements, and those who oppose me will not be able to any longer. For I have finally found the Lost Secret of the Jedi."
